I am trying my hand at doing color pencil work once again. Of all the mediums this is my favorite. The likeness is close, but not on the money as you can see if you compare it with the photo I took it from. His head is too skinny, his chin is too big, his glasses too small and both my sons say the mouth makes him look like an old man. Oh well, I am rusty, but it was fun and I am pleased with my technique. I am not sure if it was my sons scanner that blurred the image or our computer. I still have one more drawing to put up. It is of my better half, Corey. Now that one is really off, but it still favors him. I will try to load it when we get dsl. It took almost an hour to upload this one.
It's nicely done, although I think it could do with a bit more tonal range. Not wanting to sound arrogant or anything; just my opinion. When zoomed in it's more impressive than the thumbnail view, and I think that's because there's not enough contrast between light and dark.. it all seems very "light".
It's pretty cool though, and does look real. And I like the mouth, even though I don't know what the original looks like
Yes, I can see that now that I have it up and I appreciate your comments. I have gone back and revised my comments once I got it up if you want to go back and read what I found wrong with it. Though I didn't mention the lightness problem which I didn't really notice too much until you said something. Thank you for your comments.
Hah, sorry. I didn't mean to be too critical I just think that certain areas need going over in possibly a dark brown as opposed to the general skin coloured tone of it, eg below his chin, his forehead, under his ear, below his hair etc.
As I've already said, though, it's a really good pic
A collection of the most beautiful and amazing square photographs I found among my favourites. Please have a look and give these artists the attention they deserve!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

Does the panel consider it morally justifiable to charge interest to countries whose population live in mud huts?
